June Favourites

So maybe a little overdue but I got up to so much in June I wanted to write about it.  This has possibly been my favourite month so far in 2014 with the English weather warming up, weekdays do not just consist of 9 to 5, dinner and bed.  In the summer it is socially acceptable to meet up with friends and have a cheeky cider wherever we see fit.
4th June is my anniversary with my boyfriend, even though we had to work out how long we had actually been together, it seems like we have been together much longer than 3 years.  We went out for dinner to The Swan where we (me) drunk lovely cocktails and stuffed ourselves with duck and pork belly.
June was also a big month for concerts and music for me. Me and one of my gorgeous friends stood in awe and watched Justin Timberlake do his thing for 2 and a half hours and he was pure perfection.  If I told you I didn't fall in love I would be lying. He moved the front half of the stage to the back of the O2 so that even the people at the back could see his amazing dance moves. He also stood on the bar and did a shot of Tequila!  I also went to Capital's Summertime Ball where I saw everything from Jessie J Slut dropping to Miley Cyrus, being well Miley Cyrus. The photo shows Enrique running and jumping down the stairs.
Me and my boyfriend took a relaxing summer break to Lanzarote for a week. An island that neither of us had been to before so we explored the volcanoes and took a camel ride.  I'm sure the owner called him Jimmy.  We spent the week chilling by the pool, playing table tennis, eating and drinking cocktails.  Only in Spain do they serve tapas at midday with an alcoholic shot.  You may have seen my duty free purchases that I bought while I was away.

To round the month off my boyfriend turned 23, which like every year since I have known him he dragged out for a good week and a bit.  First we went for dinner at Byron Burger, Joe being the burger lover that he is wanted to celebrate his birthday with the Ronaldo burger.  The next day we went for dinner with his family to CAU, a restaurant I hadn't eaten in before and it most definitely did not disappoint. Being a lover of all things cow print I really appreciated the black and white colour theme. At the weekend we celebrated with our friends and it was nice seeing some of my boyfriend's oldest friends turn out.

Some of you may have noticed it is Sale time on the UK highstreet and I have been loving these floral tailored trousers that I snapped up from Topshop a few weeks ago.  I have had so many compliments and hopefully I will have an outfit post with them in shortly.  I haven't tried out too many new products this month, mainly the new purchases from holiday.  MAC face and body foundation is my new favourite summer foundation, it is light weight so perfect for when it is hot and also creates a nice base to apply cream products.  My new nail favourite is the Bourjois Instant Nail Dry Drops.  I have finally got on the Nuxe lip balm hype and I totally see why it is a cult favourite among the beauty world, though I can find it slightly sickly.  Lady Million perfume, what a bargain I got on this little beauty and I have worn it every day since I got back from Lanzarote. Garnier Intensive 7 day moisturiser is a definite must after being in the sun and wanting to put some moisture back into the skin.  Stopped me peeling after 2 days and is so light on the skin yet lasts ages.

Topshop Lips - Secret Admirer

Topshop makeup has become quite popular and though I haven't tried out everything in the range I have dabbled in their lipsticks, now owning three: Brighton Rock, Innocent and the newest addition to my collection Secret Admirer. For some reason I cannot find it on the Topshop website but they retail for £8 each and come in a variety of shades.
I decided to go for a light pink shade, and at first I did have to play around with it.  Even though these lipsticks do have a creamy texture they can show any dry flaky bits or cracks on the lips.  To stop this from happening I apply some Vaseline underneath and problem solved.  Without anything underneath I find these to be quite long lasting lipsticks so lovely for an evening out.
I've seen a lot of reviews saying how everyone loves the packaging, to be honest I'm not a massive fan.  There's a lot worse, but it's nothing to write home about.  If anything I find the plastic is quite thin.  However, I like how the lipsticks come in a box, unlike drugstore brands that don't have any exterior packaging.  Gives it a little bit of a luxury feel.
The finish of this shade, and all the others I have tried, is matte.  I'm becoming more a fan of the sheer, more moisturised look so as I said I apply a lip balm beforehand so the colour is not as opaque.  If you like matte lipsticks you'll like the Topshop ones.
Swatched, Secret Admirer looks like a Barbie pink, but once applied on my lips it actually finishes to slightly darker than expected.  I think this is a shade that varies with the pigmentation of the lips that it is applied to.  So I would recommend you try this on before buying it, because it could look amazing on your friend but look completely different on your own lips.
Overall I think this is an ok lipstick, I don't know if I think they are worth £8 but as a student I get a cheeky 10% off which isn't a lot but hey, a little goes a long way.

Topshop Lipstick - Brighton Rock

Last week I posted about how I was a bit late on the hype and finally purchased some Topshop lipsticks. Originally, I only wanted to try lipstick out, in case I didn't see what all the fuss was about. So I was there, swatching till my little heart was content, then saw this bright pink shade down the other side of the makeup stand.
I didn't realise until I actually read the label that is was Brighton Rock, possibly one of their more famous shades due to Zoe's love for it. Also, I would like to point out that on the Topshop website it seems a lot redder than it actually is, so don't be put off.
It is a bright pink with almost an undertone of red to deepen the colour. It's a very bold move, so if you aren't too confident about out there lips, then I would stay well away from this one. I like this on it's own, I was worried that it might need a lip pencil to make it work, but I don't think it does.
The shades I have does last on the lips which I am impressed with. I can't believe I didn't own a Topshop lipstick before and now I have two :)

What is your favourite Topshop shade?

Topshop Lipstick - Innocent

Topshop has a lovely range of makeup and have received some glowing reviews. I was always a bit sinnical as I know that the blogging world can get a bit caught up with the hype of certain products. However, I recently felt that my lipstick collection was missing a vital member of the team. So I took a dive in to Topshop's makeup stand. (Not literally, obviously)

Topshop lipsticks are really creamy, they also look amazing with a dab of gloss over the top too. There isn't a massive range of shades but there is variety of colours, if that makes sense. I decided I wanted a nude so I was swatching away and originally Pillow Talk caught my eye, then I saw Innocent and changed my mind.  I am really glad I did, I love the pinky tone of Innocent, such a lovely everyday colour.
I never have a lipstick that I wear everyday, but I do find myself reaching for this one more than others. They last quite long on the lips too which is always a plus when you find a lovely lipstick shade. At £8 I am impressed with the quality, I know this is going to be a bit controversial, but I don't actually like the packaging. It reminds me of children's crayons, not something I like my lipstick to look like.
